Albert
Edwin Flury was born in 1974 of an Italian mother and
Swiss/English father in Busto Arsizio, Italy. From
his tender years he showed an outstanding artistic gift.
At the age of six his capacity was recognized by him receiving a certificate
of “Benemerenza” from the cultural department of the Region of Lombardy. His
love for art was already evident when at the age of four he would ask his
mother to enter antique churches to see the masterpieces on view. It was,
perhaps, these masterpieces that have left an indelible mark in Albert’s
spirit in which art expressed its cultural roots of the past. In particular,
a visit to the palace of Versailles at the age of eight had an important
influence in determing his choice of style, in which his works reflect a
sort of an eighteen- century atmosphere.
Self-taught for several years using techniques ranging from water-colour to
tempera, he decided at the age of fourteen to enrol at the “Liceo Artistico
di Busto Arsizio” where he obtained his Art diploma in 1992.
From 1993 the production of the young artist began in earnest; he entered
into a prestigious artistic cultural association of Milan, where he had the
opportunity to exhibit his works, obtaining commissions in the sector of
Portraits both in Italy and England.
In April 1994 he executed an affresco on the front face of the palace
“Mazzucchelli” representing the Madonna, Jesus and S.Giovannino (Madonna del
Roseto, mt. 2,10x3,20) This work was published in the weekly “Città Oggi” on
10.05.1994.
In 1995, while serving his military service in the Navy, he painted various
portraits in oil, including the “Portrait of Sergeant Luigi Mancuso”. In
1996 he produced a Thrompe-l’oeil on the walls of the main ball-room of the
Daily Rose of Legnano (Italy), work executed in tempra (dimensions 9,5x5,20
m), representing a prospective view containing architectural elements,
statues and gardens.
In 1997 he entered to form part of the Asco Duomo
association of Milan, obtaining permission to exhibit his works at their
exhibitions. In the same year he exhibited the following (for the complete
Theatrical season) “Homage to Marie Antoinette” and “18th century
self-portrait” in the Hall of the National Theatre of Milan.
Commissioned by the Vatican Delegation in 1999 to produce (to celebrate the
SS. Jubilee) a work entitled “Bartolo Longo ed il Santuario di Pompei” for
the Sanctuary Museum of the Virgin of the Rosary in Pompei. The inauguration
took place in the art gallery on the 26.02.2000. An important catalogue was
published of the exhibition and was translatedin 10 tongues
.
In January 2000, he exhibited at the “Petrofil Arte
International” of Milan, in the company of many illustrious names from both
19th century and contemporary artists.
In the year 2000 he execute the Portrait of
H.R.H. Prince William
on the occasion of his 18th Birthday. The Portrait was sent to Buckingham
Palace where it is now exhibited. National newspapers such as “Il Giorno”
and "Città Oggi" wrote about this event.
In the same year the artist exhibit in Nice (France) at the Negresco presented by the Gallerist and Art Critic Mrs. Ursula Petrone. He even becomes official member of the American Society of Portrait Artists.
In 2006 his painting "Homage to Marie Antoinette is chosen as cover of the biography by Vladimir Oravsky of the love affair between the Queen of France and the Swedish Count Fersen. The book was presented in january 2007.
In November 2007 his works are selected for the exhibition "Vizi d'Arte" in Vietri sul Mare (SA) from the 10th decembre 2007 to the 15th of january 2008. Thr exhibition is then prolongued in the Naples's Churches of San Gennaro all'Olmo and San Biagio Maggiore.
